Comcast Adds Partner Support for Scale, Volume

Comcast Business Class has boosted support for its partner program over the last quarter with the addition of more personnel and systems resources.

To that end, the cableco now has channel managers, which it calls Partner Sales Managers, in each of its 16 regions.

It also has brought in Cody Calhoun to manage the company's master agencies as director or national partner programs. Calhoun most recently was managing partner for his own agency, Communications Engineering Management. Previously, he had held director level channel management positions with McGraw Communications, Level 3 Communications, NTT/Verio and Qwest.

To support sales of its Metro Ethernet services, Comcast also has created a Metro Ethernet team to coordinate site surveys, pricing and order status for partners. Schlagbaum said there presently are five people on the team to assist Partner Account Coordinators with the "heavy lifting" required for Metro Ethernet orders.  In addition, he said Comcast has added sales engineers in each of the regions to back up PSMs on sales of  Metro Ethernet services.

The cableco also now has 10 Partner Account Coordinators supporting sales of its coax products.

On the systems side, Schlagbaum said its WebTop partner portal has been updated to allow partners to see more information on the status of orders. "They no longer need to call," he said.
