A number of channel-centric providers will play a key role in the growth of business VoIP platforms worldwide, according to a new study from Global Industry Analysts Inc.

When it comes to services including managed IP PBX, hosted VoIP and unified communications, the firm this week called the following U.S-based companies "major players":

  • 8x8 Inc.
  • AT&T Inc.
  • Broadview Networks Inc.
  • Cbeyond Inc.
  • CenturyLink Inc.
  • Comcast Corp.
  • Level 3 Communications Inc.
  • MASERGY
  • M5 Networks Inc.
  • MegaPath Inc.
  • Net2Phone
  • New Global Telecom Inc.
  • Verizon Business
  • XO Communications

Global Industry Analysts said most of the opportunity for these providers is overseas. For example, Asia-Pacific represents the fastest-growing market; annual revenue there is growing at about 17.3 percent, the firm found, thanks to booming economies and expanding enterprises' demand.
