Digital Planet Communications, a business telecommunications professional services firm, on Thursday announced completing its transformation into a national technology solutions provider.

The Saint Paul, Minn.-based company said it's now able to offer customers a more complete solution for telecom equipment and services. Digital Planet President Shawn Schmidt said his company can offer all aspects of business communications from a single source.

"Folks are forced to work with multiple VARs to find solutions to their communications needs. You have the telephony equipment VAR, an information technologies VAR, a print/copy/fax VAR, not to mention someone to get telecom services from," Schmidt said in a statement.

Jonathan Watkins, vice president of partner sales with Digital Planet, characterized as "natural" the company's evolution from a national master agency working exclusively with value added resellers to a national technology solutions provider.

"Our partners saw they needed a multi-dimensional offering for their clients, not only to grow, but to protect their existing client relationships," Watkins said in a statement.
