Jeremy Butt, Avaya's former vice president of worldwide channels, has landed at value-added distributor Westcon Group.
In January, Avaya announced Butt was leaving the company, although it did not say why. Then, on Feb. 29, Westcon Group announced it has hired Butt as EMEA executive vice president, leading the company's Europe and Africa/India/Middle East operations.
“For more than two decades, Jeremy has built a reputation as one of the premier executives in the channel," said Dean Douglas, president and CEO of Westcon Group, in a prepared statement. "During that time, Westcon has also strengthened our leadership brand across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Jeremy is a great hire for us, as he’ll bring the right mix of experience and leadership necessary to power our next stage of growth."
Butt has led worldwide channel efforts at Motorola and Avaya. At Motorola, he oversaw the PartnerSelect channel program. He joined Avaya in 2008 and, for the next several years, managed 9,000 systems integrators, service providers, distributors, VARs and other channel partners. He also helped form the company's first global channel program, Avaya Connect, and was key in integrating Nortel's enterprises assets into the fold. As executive vice president of the EMEA region for Westcon, Butt will bring separate, regional business units into one group. He'll also expand Westcon's unified communications and security practices through partners.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to work closely with Westcon in EMEA on a number of occasions throughout my career," Butt said in a press release. "“I’m proud to be the newest member of this winning team. Working together, I fully expect us to not only meet, but far exceed our aggressive goals for the region."
Butt will report directly to Dean Douglas and will be based in Slough, U.K.
