iAreaNet, a 10-year-old technology services company based in Staten Island, N.Y., announced it is going to market with its cloud services through the indirect sales channel in early 2012.

The company, which has relied on a direct sales approach, plans to formally launch its agent channel at the Channel Partners Conference & Expo, March 26-29 in Las Vegas.

"Our focus in 2012 is to build a solid distribution model via the sales experience and expertise of the telecom agent community," said Andrew Campbell, managing partner for iAreaNet. "We're currently recruiting agents that share our vision and drive."

Campbell is joined in this effort by the company's founder and president, James DCrescenzo Jr.,  and Managing Partner Tom Murphy, who for the past 10 years operated his own master agency in the New York area.

In addition, the company announced Tuesday that it has hired Russell Mitchell as vice president of sales.  Most recently, Mitchell served as senior client executive for Fujitsu America Inc., the world's third largest IT services provider, where he assisted Fortune Global 500 companies in the adoption of cloud delivered IT services. In his new role, Mitchell assumes responsibility for all of iAreaNet's sales initiatives, as well as assisting iAreaNet clients in developing successful cloud-based managed services strategies.

Mitchell began his career with Information Products, an IT services company providing technology based solutions to SMBs, where his talents were quickly tapped to build and run a sales team to grow IPC's client base. He has also served as vice president of regional sales at ENTEX (formerly Siemens Business Services) and area sales vice president at T-Systems, a unit of Deutsche Telekom.

iAreaNet's core offer is iAreaOffice, a cloud-based communications and IT platform for small and medium businesses. The communications service includes standard PBX features plus free extension dialing between locations, one-number (find-me, follow-me) service, voice mail to email, click to dial, fax, e-mail, conferencing (audio, video, Web) and more. IT features includes the standard Microsoft Office application as well as support for other apps like QuickBooks, CRM and custom software. It also includes calendaring, virtual desktop, presence, data storage/backup, spam blocking, file sharing and more.
