Greg Plum, former director of business development for The Conference Group (TCG), is now forming a channel for a startup conferencing company, StartMeeting, Long Beach, Calif., as its vice president of channel development.

Plum, who worked for TCG for 11 years, most recently leading direct and indirect sales, left the company in fall 2011 to join a new company that he said is innovating the virtual meeting space. StartMeeting's service has been in development for two years and integrates high-definition audio and Web conferencing, including reservationless audio conferences for up to 1,000 participants. Along with the unprecedented scale, StartMeeting will offer disruptive pricing: Subscriptions range from $13 to $20 per month for 50 seats; audio is 2.9-3.9 cents per minute retail.

StartMeeting's channel will soft launch Jan. 3 with the official launch at the Channel Partners Conference & Expo, March 26-29, in Las Vegas. Agents will earn 25-35 percent commissions depending on the rates they choose to charge their customers. All provisioning is done online and commissions are tracked by codes assigned to individual agents for each of their retail rate models.

Plum was a finalist for the Channel Partners Channel Executive of the Year award in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
