VoIP services provider GLOBALINX has named a new channel chief to succeed Ron Ireland.

Cody Jenkins took over as director of agent sales on Nov. 7. He replaced Ireland, who recently left GLOBALINX under amicable circumstances. GLOBALINX's Cody Jenkins

Jenkins comes to GLOBALINX with more than 14 years' experience in telecom and more than 25 in sales and management. Jenkins' latest industry job was as a senior wireless sales executive for Frontier Communications, but his channel background includes Global Crossing, where he held positions including vice president of small business/channel management, vice president of global wholesale voice and vice president of margin assurance. Jenkins was instrumental in developing Global Crossing's Partner Support Center, which turned around bids, resolved problems and oversaw partner compensation. He also has worked for Unisys and Xerox, accumulating experience in direct sales, call center oversight and direct-response marketing.

Michael Machonkin, GLOBALINX’s vice president of sales and marketing, said Jenkins has a "great track record of leading sales teams to new heights and ... mentoring individuals to excel."

Jenkins lives in Rochester, N.Y., and will work out of GLOBALINX headquarters in that city.

Meantime, Ireland, who lived in Santa Barbara, Calif., where GLOBALINX runs its second location (which used to be TMC Communications), left the company after getting remarried; his new wife lives in Denver, and Ireland moved to the Centennial State to be with her. GLOBALINX’s corporate policy is that anyone in a senior management position must work out of one of the company’s two offices.

“These roles provide leadership in many facets in the office that simply cannot be done while working remotely," Machonkin told Channel Partners in October.

Ireland had worked for TMC Communications, a network services provider, since 1998. But earlier this year, TMC was bought out by GLOBALINX for an undisclosed sum. At TMC, Ireland served as CFO and president; at GLOBALINX, he was the vice president of channel development.
