Two years after debuting a version of its app for the iPhone, Skype is giving iPad users the news they’ve wanted to hear.
By now you may have already seen video of the app online:
It works just as you’d expect it to, with typical Skype functions like audio/video calling and chat. But you won’t find some things you get in the full Mac/PC version, like file sharing, Skype VP of Consumer and Product Design Rick Osterloh told TUAW.
Nevertheless, Skype expects big things from the iPad app, which follows in the footsteps of an iPhone app that saw its user base double one month after its release in 2009.
No word yet on a specific release date just yet. But Osterloh says the app’s been in testing for months and it won’t be long before you see it in the App Store.
