CA Delivers Hosting Service via Verizon’s Cloud

A new agreement will allow CA Technologies to offer its IT management software through Verizon’s flagship cloud offering, Computing as a Service (CaaS). First up, CA will host Clarity PPM, its project and portfolio management solution, on Verizon’s cloud.

CA Technologies says Verizon’s software-delivery option complements CA’s traditional on-premise software delivery and its growing on-demand, SaaS delivery model for CA Service Desk Manager On Demand and CA Clarity PPM On Demand.

“The CA Technologies offering on our cloud infrastructure underscores the shift we are seeing toward cloud adoption," said Kerry Bailey, Verizon group president of enterprise cloud strategy and services. “More and more companies are using cloud computing to fundamentally improve the way they do business."

“CA Technologies recognizes that there is a growing trend for customers to use our software in an on-demand, SaaS delivery model, but we also need to address the needs of customers who want the control they get by owning the software license – without the burden and cost of managing the application and its infrastructure," said Adam Elster, general manager, Services, Support and Education Sales, CA Technologies. “Providing the option to host our software on Verizon’s cloud reinforces our commitment to helping customers achieve cost savings and agility no matter what delivery model they choose."

In the Verizon cloud, CA Technologies customers will retain their licenses to the software. They will also be able to configure the solutions to their own needs or contract with CA Services to configure the solutions. CA Services will monitor and manage the application database and platform. Additionally, customers may be able to offload costs associated with running hardware, such as cooling and power, helping to save money and improve business agility.
