MegaPath Inc. on Friday confirmed that Bruce Chatterley, president of the business markets group, has left the company and that Dan Foster will come back to the super-CLEC in Chatterley’s place.

Rumors of the pending changes hit the channel community on Thursday and, on Friday – the same day partners received official word of the deal – Channel Partners magazine was able to confirm the shakeup.

Foster, a 10-year MegaPath employee, resigned as head of the company’s channel program earlier this year, ostensibly to pursue a new career in the clean energy sector. His exit took many observers by surprise, just as the news about Chatterley has done. For Foster, though, the reorganization bodes well – he’s returning to MegaPath to assume a higher role than the one he left; as such, MegaPath said Chris Gellos will remain as senior vice president of business sales. And working together should feel like old times for Foster and Gellos, since the two were instrumental in combining the Speakeasy and MegaPath channel programs when the providers merged last year.

This time around, though, Foster will have more responsibility than he did before. As executive vice president of sales and marketing, he oversaw MegaPath’s direct sales and partner initiatives. He’ll now take that experience to new levels as president of business markets; MegaPath has tasked Foster with expanding its presence in the channel and among verticals such as health care and retail. He’ll further supervise all of the division’s functions, including enterprise and SMB sales, product development and management, and marketing. Foster will report to MegaPath Chairman and CEO, D. Craig Young.

MegaPath, which specializes in managed voice, data and security services, did not say why Chatterley no longer works for the CLEC, except to say he will “pursue other opportunities."
