XO Communications today announced an expansion of its metro network across the Minneapolis-Saint Paul  metropolitan area, more than doubling its addressable market across the metropolitan area.

By expanding the reach of its 19,000-mile nationwide network and establishing additional points of presence across the Twin Cities metropolitan area, XO says it is able to serve thousands of new businesses and offer them a more competitive alternative for their local and nationwide communications and networking needs. It’s part of the company’s strategy to expand its presence in existing markets in order to serve more enterprise customers with its hosted VoIP and managed network solutions, and exceptional customer experience.

The expansion increases XO Communications’ reach across the Twin Cities’ northern and eastern suburbs including Anoka, Blaine, Crystal, Fridley, Maplewood, New Brighton and Shoreview, and adds 190 route miles to the XO metro network. XO has also deployed Ethernet-over-copper technology more broadly across its network in the Twin Cities in order to make scalable, high-speed Ethernet services more widely available to businesses.

“We are very excited about expanding our network coverage in the area to serve even more businesses," said Mark Feil, general manager for Minnesota at XO Communications. “With our extensive network reach, broad portfolio of services and multiple network access options of fiber, broadband wireless and Ethernet over copper, XO Communications is uniquely positioned as a leading competitive alternative for businesses’ communications and network needs."
