Verizon on Monday introduced cloud-based unified communications and collaboration solutions for businesses and government agencies.
The telecommunications provider unveiled “Unified Communications & Collaboration-as-a-Service," a cloud-based offering. Verizon said the service includes such capabilities as seamless call transfers from fixed to mobile phones and the use of so-called presence technology, such as instant messaging to initiate audio, Web and intra-company video conference calls in and out of the office.
Verizon also introduced “Mobile UC Client," allowing workers to replace their traditional desk phone with a mobile device that can access unified communications and collaboration features from the office or remotely.
Verizon says the new offerings will be available to U.S. customers this spring.
