Trio Target Hotels with Cloud Telephony

Terrapin Solutions, a master agency focusing on cloud services, and  Blue Mountain Networks LLC , a managed services provider and developer of cloud telephony management software, announced Tuesday that they will partner with Pac-West Telecomm Inc. to launch a “revenue-generating" cloud-based telephony service for the hospitality market.

According to the companies, the offer gives hotels the ability to pay only for those rooms that are checked in on a daily basis, better aligning costs to revenue. In addition, it offers additional opportunities to provide money-making services to guests. One example is being able to download an application to a smartphone that enables guests to make and receive calls over the hotel’s Wi-Fi network throughout the hotel and convention area, avoiding possible congestion on the cellular network. Similarly, linking your room and cell phone could enable calls to your room to ring your mobile.

The offer combines Pac-West’s Telastic carrier-grade switching platform, which has the capacity to scale into hundreds of thousands of rooms in hotels located anywhere in the world, with Blue Mountain Networks’ patent-pending software, which manages a hotel’s communications infrastructure and services.

The result, the companies said, is that hotels will have the benefits of shared resources and redundancy across multiple locations, access to update features immediately, and the ability to scale up or down based on room occupancy – all as a non-capital expenditure investment.

“This model changes everything for telephony in the hospitality space," said Andrew Pryfogle, president and CEO of Terrapin Solutions. “Not only does it significantly drive down telephony costs for hotels, it also turns the hotel’s telephony platform back into a revenue-generating machine."
