Mitel Helps Distributor Dump Clunky Key Systems, Move Into the Cloud

Unified communications software provider Mitel has scored a new customer in World Wide Metric.

Mitel will outfit World Wide Metric – which distribute valves and fitting to maritime and fluid power companies – with its cloud-based UC service. World Wide Metric needs to replace its aging key systems and PBXs in four offices in the United States.

"We thought we wanted to upgrade and standardize on a premises-based platform across all of our sites, but the more we looked at hosted services, the more sense they made," said Theo Contos, president of World Wide Metric. "We don't have any voice expertise on staff and every time we needed to change something on our voice system, we had to place expensive service calls. With Mitel AnyWare we are eliminating these unpredictable costs, because Mitel manages everything."

To that point, World Wide Metric has chosen to subscribe to Mitel’s AnyWare product, which bundles voice and UC applications into a monthly, per-user fee. AnyWare comes with IP phones and features including unlimited local and long-distance; e911 service; mobile twinning; voice mail with e-mail forwarding; a UC client; eight-party conference calling; disaster recovery; and auto attendant.

All of that means World Wide Metric will avoid upfront capital costs and month-to-month financing.
