8x8 has partnered with Polycom to provide Polycom’s desktop phones and audioconferencing units to 8x8’s Virtual Office subscriber base.

The cloud communications provider is now offering Polycom’s SoundPoint IP 335 desk phone as part of its product offering to customers of its hosted VoIP service. Two other models – the SoundPoint IP 550 and the SoundPoint IP 670 – are currently in beta testing and if the results are positive, will be added to the product line, said Joan Citelli, director of corporate communications at 8x8.

The company also plans to offer Polycom’s SoundStation IP conference phones and Polycom KIRK wireless phones and accessories in the coming weeks and months.

There is no additional fee to use the Polycom technology as part of the 8x8 service; just a one-time equipment fee, Citelli said.

“Polycom’s reliable, cutting-edge offerings will be a valuable addition to our IP phone portfolio and a tremendous vehicle for enabling our Virtual Office customers to experience and benefit from technological advancements such as HD Voice," said Bryan Martin, 8x8 chairman and CEO, in a statement.

8x8 has a referral program for VARs and solution providers looking to add communications to their list of services. “It’s a great way for resellers to include a VoIP offering in their portfolio without having to actively sell or support it," Citelli said. Referral partners are paid on a per-extension basis when a referred business becomes a subscriber and remains so for 60 days.
