IT products distributor Tech Data Corp. (TECD) has announced the opening of the Symantec Solutions Center at its worldwide headquarters in Clearwater, Fla. The facility – the latest addition to Tech Data’s 6,000-square-foot solutions center – is a state-of-the art learning environment providing access to all the Symantec solutions sold by Tech Data. Newly constructed, the center is open and available for resellers to introduce their employees and end-user customers to Symantec’s security and data-protection solutions.
“Symantec is focused on giving our partners the solutions and resources they need to drive more revenue and maintain relevance with their customers,” said Symantec Vice President, North America Channel Sales, Randy Cochran. “The Symantec Solutions Center will provide partners with hands-on access to Symantec’s portfolio as well as sales and technical trainings to help improve their readiness to support customers’ changing needs. We anticipate that Symantec, Tech Data and our partners will use the center to identify new opportunities and better work together to turn them into sales.”
The Symantec Solutions Center at Tech Data will provide broad solutions sales and technical trainings. Supported by the Tech Data solutions center’s robust networking and data center infrastructure, the facility will offer real-world demonstrations of Symantec solutions by replicating end-user IT environments using the latest software, servers, storage, client devices, networking technology and virtualization solutions.
Symantec solutions already installed in the center include Symantec Endpoint Protection, Symantec Backup Exec, Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Veritas NetBackup, The Altiris Client Management Suite from Symantec, and Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
The Symantec Solutions Center provides video conferencing, digital signage and presentation capabilities for onsite and remote training, and also can be reconfigured depending on reseller requirements for pitching or winning customers.
In related news, Tech Data also announced that its new Health care Specialized Business Unit (SBU) will connect resellers and hardware and software producers to the rising demand for IT solutions throughout the health care industry. Forecast budget increases for government-funded health care providers and incentives for health care IT modernization created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) make this vertical market a key driver for technology spending in 2010, said Tech Data.
“Health care IT is a top priority for Tech Data,” said Tech Data senior vice president, U.S. Marketing, Joe Quaglia. “We’ve put our leading market intelligence and data mining capabilities to work and identified a select group of resellers closest to the nation’s small doctor’s offices, clinics and hospitals. Through our Health care SBU, we’re partnering with leading hardware and software vendors to provide these resellers with the specialized solutions, services and expert resources they need to take full advantage of the rising demand for healthcare IT.”
