Some VARs are speculating that digital storage solution provider Seagate’s entire channel program will be cut due to some heavy layoffs in its VAR sales and marketing team.
A Seagate spokesman said the layoffs were part of a company-wide cutback, announced in early May as part of the company’s restructuring plan. Furthermore, the spokesman said that while he couldn’t speak to specific names or numbers regarding the channel layoffs, he could assure VARs that the Seagate channel, being 40 percent of the company’s business, would not be eliminated.
