Sun Microsystems’ stock was down 25 percent in afternoon trading Monday after reports broke that the potential tie-up between IBM and Sun Microsystems is a no-go.
Talks between the two computing bigwigs collapsed over the weekend. IBM had put a $7 billion takeover bid on the table.
IBM’s stock didn’t fare as badly, dipping less than 2 percent.
The IBM-Sun fallout quickly extended to other computing companies like Dell Computer and Hewlett-Packard Co., which both posted losses.
