VoIP equipment maker Mitel has based its new 5300 series IP phones on Texas Instruments Inc.’s (TI) VoIP technology so they can deliver real-time access to applications and services such as Web browsing, contact lists and call history logs.

“Our collaboration with TI has resulted in a new class of IP phones that will give our enterprise customers access to the next level of advanced features,” said Ron Wellard, vice president of product development for Mitel, in a prepared statement.

The new 5330 and 5340 IP Phones feature a 160 x 320 graphics display with 24 or 48 self-labeling, multifunction, programmable keys. Both phones are full-duplex, hands-free speakerphone systems with wideband audio handsets. They are enabled through TI’s VoIP technology that combines processor, communication and peripheral functions.

Mitel and TI have been working together since mid-2005. Mitel distributes through resellers and other channel partners.
