Image Gallery: Westcon Kicks Off First-Ever Connect Event in Serious Texas Style
This fall, for the first time ever, Westcon Group Inc. combined its once-separate partner events (the distributor runs a Cisco-centric division called Comstor) into one and dubbed it Connect.
The two-day conference took place Oct. 9-10, at the Gaylord Texan, just outside of Dallas. More than 115 VARs from 80 countries attended, along with 51 vendors from 19 countries, Westcon said. The quickly changing tech space, and the requisite business model adjustments it's forcing among partners, dominated the education sessions, which were led by independent experts and Westcon heads. Cloud and services stood out as two of the hottest game-changers for VARs.
But as is always the case at partner events, there was time for fun. After a buffet dinner featuring barbecue brisket, Westcon hosted a casino night. Partners were able to cash in their Westcon dollars for chips to play in the Texas Hold 'Em tournament.
