Virgo Publishing, a leading business-to-business information services company, announced today that Channel Partners, Virgo’s resource for the communications channel, has partnered with The 2112 Group, a technology business strategy firm specializing in technology and channel communications and intelligence services, to launch the Channel Partners Cloud Convergence Council.
As the IT and Telecom channels converge in the cloud, Channel Partners and The 2112 Group seek to bridge the gap by bringing together thought leaders from both channels to form a unique council. The Cloud Convergence Council will consider strategic issues such as evolving business models and identifying opportunities and challenges, as well as tactical issues such as reconciling terms and language and setting governance and performance expectations.
The inaugural council will be introduced and share its initial work and goals in a roundtable discussion at the 2011 Spring Channel Partners Conference & Expo, March 13-15, 2011, in Las Vegas.
“Capitalizing on the cloud is going to be the preoccupation of IT and telecom providers and their channels for the foreseeable future," said Channel Partners Editor-in-Chief Khali Henderson. “Bringing them together to look at common solutions to this shared challenge is our goal. We look forward to the results of this unprecedented conversation."
“Cloud computing is revolutionizing the way IT infrastructure, applications and services are consumed by businesses large and small. The cloud is making technology more accessible and affordable. But the cloud is also disrupting conventional business models in both IT and communications channels. The goal of our council is to resolve misconceptions and overcome obstacles in channel models, as well as identify how these two separate channels can leverage their respective capabilities in fulfilling the cloud future businesses desire," said Lawrence M. Walsh, president and CEO of The 2112 Group.
The Channel Partners Cloud Convergence Council is sponsored by CA Technologies, Catalyst Telecom, Juniper Networks, Motorola Solutions and PGI. To be the first to hear the findings of the Council you must be a registered participant of the 2011 Spring Channel Partners Conference & Expo.
