Shake Out Leaves Us Quality

I just read with interest Bruce Christian's April column, "Shake Out, Rattle and Roll." You made some good points about the changing economy, and the fact that it's quality technology, quality business models and strong management that equal success. Now you're seeing what really works and what doesn't, [and] not just in the dot-com world either.

Would you be willing to go out on a limb and name a few companies who you think have it right? For example: Success with dark fiber equals Qwest [Communications International Inc. www.qwest.com] in my mind, because of its ability to scale through its miles and miles of fiber laid by railroad tracks. I'm curious, because "hot" technology of the moment loses its buzz factor when some companies come in and foul it up, either through poor development, implementation or marketing.

Unified Congratulations

I'm responding to Tara [Seals] recent Unified Communications article in PHONE+. Congratulations to Tara and your publication for a very timely article. As a unified communications vendor, it's nice to see SP applications of this technology covered in the media.

Viva Las Vegas (and PHONE+)

I just read your letter in the May PHONE+ ("Safe Haven for Crapshooters"). What a superb job of capturing the mood in Las Vegas!

It's very ironic that we've come to this point. I remember attending TRA meetings many years ago and being met with a distinct attitude that agents are some sort of lower life form. I also remember meeting with Marla [Ellerman] and Bob Titsch in Atlanta five years ago and leaving with a warm embrace by PHONE+. We appreciate that you've stuck with the agent/channel partner industry and helped us to the point when we can not only survive during a difficult period for many of our suppliers, but also actually thrive like never before.

It's very encouraging that you fine folks at PHONE+ continue to keep your finger on the real pulse of the telecom marketplace.
