Universal Access Acquires Tri-Quad Enterprises

Universal Access Inc. (www.universalaccess.net), a provider of Internet network infrastructure services, has acquired Tri-Quad Enterprises Inc., which produces the Local Area Transport Tariff Information System (LATTIS), a circuit pricing tool.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition marks the third in a series of moves this year designed to make Universal Access' Universal Information Exchange more attractive to potential customers, the company says.

Nearly 300 carriers and service providers use LATTIS to determine circuit costs. LATTIS contains information covering more than 250,000 rate elements, including rate zone, rate period, premium classification, multiple line indicator and mileage band.

In late June, Universal Access announced a minority investment in Amerex Bandwidth Ltd. ( www.amerexbandwidth.com) that strategically aligns the companies to deliver end-to-end, high-capacity network connections for the bandwidth trading market.

As part of the agreement, Universal Access will provision, install and manage local loop and long-haul circuits that connect trading participants to the bandwidth brokered in Amerex's transactions.

Last January, Universal Access acquired substantially all the assets of Florida-based Stuff Software Inc. and its line of telecommunications database products, which includes C.O.Finder!, which lets users look up CO and frame-relay switching locations throughout the United States.; LocationFinder!, a telecommunications mapping program; and PriceFinder!, which provides a database of telecommunications tariffs.
