Nonprofit CompTIA has launched a new forum designed to address challenges and opportunities associated with mobile technology.
Dubbed the CompTIA Mobility Community, the group aims to bring together thought leaders from vendors, solution providers and others active in the fast-growing market for mobile technology and mobile apps. The Community’s first major meeting will be at CompTIA’s annual member meeting, March 12-13, in Chicago.
Many organizations are looking to implement new mobile technology solutions. CompTIA points to three major factors impacting that opportunity: the rapid adoption of smartphones and tablets; an increase in the number of telecommuters; and customer expectations for mobile interactions that are easy, fast and safe. The new group can help address the challenges and opportunities stemming from these.
"Many businesses have embraced mobile devices as a way to make their employees more productive and to become more accessible to their customers," said Dave Sobel, director of partner community for level platforms and chair of the CompTIA Mobility Community. "But devices are only a small part of a necessary mobile strategy that makes sense from both a financial and technology standpoint. The IT channel's leadership can and will help them address these issues."
The community’s first major initiative is to create a mobility roadmap, including an analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for IT channel companies either currently engaged in or contemplating entering the mobile market.
