Mitel Eager to Engage with Toshiba Dealers Post TSD Acquisition

Mitel is ready to work with Toshiba partners now that it owns the tech giant’s Telecommunication Systems Division (TSD), which was set to shut down.

That’s according to Mike Conlon, Mitel’s vice president of North America channel sales. TSD is a manufacturer of IP business telephone systems designed for small-to medium-size businesses and larger enterprises with multiple locations. Toshiba planned to shut down sales of new systems in its business phone division in May.

“This is the division Toshiba notified customers and dealers it would be winding down as part of the company’s continuing global restructuring,” he said. “Mitel’s acquisition offers those customers the opportunity to not only extend the life of their Toshiba products, but also to make a graceful transition to next-generation technologies at their own pace, with access to Mitel’s broad portfolio of premises, hybrid and cloud-based systems and applications.”

Toshiba partners now have a “seamless path forward for their business communications needs with a global market leader,” Conlon said.

“Mitel is committed to helping them and their customers during the transition,” he said. “We view our channel partners as key to our success, and we want to best enable them with the tools and support they need. To avoid any disruption to their business, they can expect ongoing access to existing Toshiba products and services.”

The acquisition shouldn’t have any impact on existing Mitel partners, Conlon said.

“Now that the acquisition has closed, we’re eager to engage with Toshiba partners and have begun doing so to ensure a smooth transition plan,” he said. “We’re welcoming them as part of the Mitel family with communications via phone, email and in-person visits. We’re also extending invitations to our roadshows in key North American cities and have committed to sharing a product roadmap within the next 90 days.”
