Ingram Micro Offers Partners Free Vertical Market Business Resources

Today, distributor Ingram Micro is offering partners a walk down Vertical Expo Live, a new online virtual learning environment designed to speed partners’ foray into the growing vertical-market opportunity in the U.S.

“We built the Vertical Expo Live platform to help partners explore, engage and expand their vertical practices,” Tom Blankenhorn, senior director at Ingram Micro, who jointly leads the distributor’s vertical go-to-market strategy, told us.

At its partners’ request, Ingram Micro is sharing its vertical-market experience, knowledge and collateral, and is putting it in one place for partner access. Among the new resources are: critical market insights; industry research; easy-to-brand content and designed collateral; go-to-market best practices for sales and marketing; market-specific training and education materials; and technology solution blueprints.

Upon entering the virtual Vertical Expo Live portal, partners will be able to explore vertical-solution areas such as retail, finance, Federal, state, local and education (SLED), and health care. The first solution blueprint that Ingram Micro is making available is mobility. A blueprint for network security is scheduled for the Q4 timeframe with others, such as cloudstorage and professional services to follow, according to Blankenhorn.{ad}

Ingram Micro said that additional services such as lead generation, end-user profiling and market-specific benchmarks are in the works but didn’t pin down a delivery date. The distributor is leveraging its proprietary Business Intelligence Center to offer these services, it noted.

Blankenhorn said that the Vertical Expo Live platform will be an ongoing effort that Ingram Micro will continue to polish. And, he noted that the company isn’t going it alone. Ingram Micro is working with at least 30 vendor partners today and expects to exceed 50 over the next few weeks.

In addition to vertical-solution areas, the Vertical Expo Live platform also features vendor-specific areas where partners could explore vertical solutions by vendor.
