Zerto Unifies, Gamifies Partner Program

Zerto, the disaster recovery and business continuity provider, is changing its channel program to help match its partners’ growth.

Zerto's Mariah WestThe company, which started using the channel in earnest back in 2012 and reports year-over-year growth in its partner network and partner certifications, announced Tuesday that it will unify the Zerto Alliance Partner program for VARs, systems integrators and cloud service providers.

“As you grow your partner and agent strategy, you have to really grow with it,” Mariah West, Zerto’s director of global partner marketing, told Channel Partners. “What worked well with us when we had 30 partners doesn’t also apply when you go to over 1,500 globally. And we really want our partners to be with us in every stage of their journey.”

West said the newly unified program is based on “achievement and reward.” It will reward partners for their value, even if they work in a lower-volume market.{ad}

“Regardless of what partner type you are, as you grow and as your value grows, you get rewarded equally,” West said.

West said Zerto has been trying to implement “gamification” into its program portal – that is to say, making traditional elements of the partner experience a more game-like experience. Partners can achieve different levels of rewards from activities like registering a deal or completing training.

Another big change to the program involves the education and training model. Zerto is offering online, simulation-based training that West says minimizes the amount of boring PowerPoint presentations partners must endure.

“Because they’ve cut out a lot of the one-sided content, the training is much simpler to consume. [You] can get certified on delivering Zerto within a couple of hours versus a couple of weeks,” she said.

Stephen Johnson, president of Zerto partner Corus360, said the program is simpler than anything else he’s seen.
