Microsoft Channel Vet Joins Intermedia

One of Microsoft’s cloud champions has joined Intermedia, the cloud applications provider, to lead its sales efforts.

Eric Martorano will start as Intermedia’s senior vice president of worldwide sales Sept. 15. He previously served as Microsoft’s general manager of U.S. channel sales, a position in which he assisted multiple partners in their transitions to the cloud.

“We are thrilled to bring a seasoned sales leader in both Microsoft products and the channel to Intermedia. Microsoft is such an important partner to us — we’ve built much of our business around incorporating their leading products into our application suite,” Gold said. “Eric’s innate understanding of the Microsoft ecosystem will prove invaluable as we expand our Office 365 offerings, and work even more closely with the Microsoft team.”

Martorano is now responsible for managing the company’s global sales, operations and channel alliances, providing resources and tools for partners, and executing Intermedia’s “channel-first approach.” He said the company provides solid value to its channel partners.{ad}

“Intermedia’s Private Label program enables partners to take control of product branding and pricing, while maintaining ownership of their customer relationships,” he said. “Having helped build Microsoft’s cloud services and Office 365 partner programs, I’ve seen first-hand how Intermedia value-adds of onboarding, support, and complementary applications such as SecuriSync backup and file sharing, security products like Intermedia AppID identity & access management, Cloud PBX, and email archiving can help solution providers differentiate themselves.”

Executives from Microsoft say Martorano’s move will have a positive impact on the channel community thanks to his leadership and reputation. He worked at Microsoft for eight years and has also worked for companies like Ingram Micro and Sage Software.

His relationship with Microsoft will continue thanks to Intermedia’s partnership with the technology giant.

It’s the second major hiring for Intermedia in recent weeks. Last month, Bob Tirva, formerly of DropBox, joined Intermedia as chief financial officer.
