Tech Data, Synnex Target Security Needs

Two technology distributors are launching security-related programs and services for their channel partners.

Tech Data on Monday launched a new business unit focused on security and information management. The distributor’s channel partners in the Americas now have access to a new set of education programs and vendor portfolios aimed at “best-in-class security expertise …” according to Tracy Holtz, who leads the unit.

Tech Data's Tracy Holtz“The need for security solutions has evolved quickly, and in anticipation of this, Tech Data has laid the foundation for a comprehensive security practice that works for both our security vendors and solution providers,” she said.

The unit will deliver customer-enablement tools such as professional services and security assessments that are said to help partners better navigate the security space. Brian Davis, Tech Data’s vice president of U.S. marketing, said his company is positioned to take advantage of exponential growth in the cybersecurity market.

“As the number and complexity of cyber threats continue to increase, Tech Data is developing simplified ways for our solution providers to help their customers identify, protect against and respond to this rapidly evolving landscape,” he said.

The list of technologies included in the business unit’s portfolio includes network security, data security, application security, security intelligence and cloud security.{ad}

Tech Data rival Synnex also is tackling security with the expansion of its “security-led” IT channel strategy.

That expansion includes “managed security solutions, a cybersecurity partner care team, and complementary network and security assessments,” the company said Monday.

Synnex resellers can now access endpoint security technologies from Intel and a range of managed firewall and managed security services from Fortinet, WatchGuard and Dell SonicWALL.

“As the magnitude of security threats continues to escalate, it’s critical for IT resellers to be proactive when managing and securing their customers’ networks,” said Reyna Thompson, vice president of integrated communications at Synnex Corp. “By making significant new investments with leading OEMs and vendors in the security space and internally at SYNNEX, we are well positioned to meet the demands of a growing number of resellers during a time when security has become an integral part of business planning and long-term success for the end-customer.”
