Barracuda’s Intronis Expands Security, Backup Options for MSPs

Barracuda Networks is combining resources with a recently acquired company to give its managed service providers a revamped offering.

Intronis MSP Solutions has added Barracuda Essentials for Office 365, bringing on new layers of security, archiving and backup.

“It’s a really nice value-added service that they’re able to provide for their customers, so that if an email is deleted or a calendar is deleted or a file is lost … they can recover that data without necessarily having to spend tens of thousands of dollars to get the data back from Microsoft,” he said.

Crellin noted how end-users are increasingly leaving their on-premises Microsoft Exchange Servers and migrating their data to the cloud. As a result, people in IT have become comfortable with Office 365.

“This is a nice little service they can run, not just operating the Office 365 environment but now all the add-on services that come with it, like email security, archiving and backup,” he said.{ad}

Intronis CEO Rick Faulk said that the addition of Barracuda’s product will help prevent data loss and improve efficiency.

“While backup remains a critical part of data protection, MSPs need to take a more holistic approach by also proactively protecting their customers against targeted email threats such as phishing,” he said.

Barracuda’s product uses what it calls advanced threat detection, which combats malicious emails by neutralizing and observing unknown content in the Barracuda Cloud.

Barracuda acquired Intronis last fall in an effort to boost its commitment to MSPs. The company recently expanded into the United Kingdom.

“We’re really excited to be able to provide an offering that provides security and data protection combined,” Crellin said. “It has centralized management, all for an incredible value for MSPs to build their own services offerings around – in addition to the on-premises services that they already provide today.”
