Birch Communications Seeds Cloud Sales With New Training, Enablement Team

Responding to the need for partner education in the new realities of the cloud and IP marketplace, Birch Communications has launched a sales technology and enablement team, the major CLEC announced Thursday. The new group falls within Birch’s sales engineering department.

Christopher Ramsey, the carrier’s senior vice president and chief sales officer, said that the new ST&E team will supply inside and indirect sales teams with the “guidance and technical information they need to assist customers in making sound technology decisions.”

The same release announced the promotion of Steve Sigmon to director of sales engineering, reporting to Paul Masters, VP of partner sales and solutions. His job will be leading, managing and training the entire Sales Engineering organization, made up of the new ST&E team as well as field, design, and sales engineering teams.

Sigmon promises a host of new courses and materials that will help partners sell Birch’s cloud and connectivity solutions, including TotalCloud PBX, Metro-Fiber, TotalCloud Data Center, TotalCloud File Storage, Metro Ethernet, and MPLS. Partners are also encouraged to contact the company’s channel managers to request product solutions, sales scenario training, product training, prerecorded and live product demos and “general consultancy.”

Birch’s goal, it says, is to offer a “progressive curriculum,” tailored for e-learning courses in regularly scheduled classes to begin in the coming weeks.
