Google, Amazon, IBM Are Kings of Cloud Services

Infonetics Research’s latest cloud services report predicts that the cloud-services market will exceed $200 billion by 2018.

The firm says that software-as-a-service (SaaS) will represent more than 40 percent of all off-premises cloud service revenue over the next four years. North America will continue to lead the market.

Google is the market share leader for cloud as a service (CaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS); IBM is tops in SaaS; and Amazon is far and away the leader in infrastructure as a service (IaaS).

“We continue to see new tools to automate data centers and technology for developers appear in the market, driving innovation around [CaaS] and [PaaS], the revenue growth engines for off-premises cloud services,” said Cliff Grossner, directing analyst at Infonetics Research. “The move to hybrid cloud architectures fuels the adoption of CaaS as enterprises migrate their on-premises data centers to a cloud architecture, where servers, storage and networks are virtualized and applications are automatically deployed by data center orchestration software.”
