Windstream Gets New GSA Contract

The General Services Administration has awarded Windstream a contract to provide voice, Internet and data services to Region 6 government workers in Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas.

The business communications giant says the new contract represents a multimillion-dollar revenue potential revenue annually. It’s a five-year deal running through fiscal year 2016.

Windstream will provide its telecommunications and technology solutions to more than 60,000 federal employees based in more than 400 GSA-owned buildings, properties, and agencies, such as the Department of Justice/U.S. Attorneys, Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, and Social Security offices. The Region 6 local services acquisition (LSA) contract adds another region to Windstream’s growing portfolio of LSAs, which also includes Region 1 (Northeast), Region 2 (New York and New Jersey), Region 3 (Mid-Atlantic) Region 4 (Southeast), Region 5 (Great Lakes Region), and Region 9 (California).

All federal government agencies with local offices in Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas will have access to Windstream’s suite of services including the company’s Allworx phones, IP Simple solution, expansive fiber optic network, and data center services.

“We have a tremendous amount of experience working with the federal government, and can provide the customized solutions required by federal agencies,” said Mike Magliato, Windstream’s vice president of government solutions. “The technology upgrade Windstream is providing will allow the GSA Heartland Region to deliver a unified communications solution consisting of hosted VoIP and data across its four-state region.”
