Windstream To Close Half of Retail Outlets

Windstream plans to close about half 30 of its retail outlets across 11 states, pinning the blame on the shift to Web shopping.

"More and more consumers are doing more and more shopping online," company spokesman Scott Morris told the Arkansas Business Journal.

The affected stores are in Georgia, New Mexico, New York, Minnesota, Ohio, North Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Expect 60 employees to lose their positions when the stores shut down by the end of next month.

Windstream customers can pay bills, buy products and sign up for service at the retail outlets.
