Copper Thieves Pose as AT&T Workers

Police in northwest Atlanta are looking for a group of copper-stealing thieves posing as AT&T workers.

The suspects come disguised with their own bucket truck, but rather than fixing phone wires, said they strip copper to sell it over state lines.

After hitting the same Atlanta neighborhood twice, the thieves have caused phone and Internet service disruptions for hundreds of people in the surrounding area because of damage done to the wires.

A $3,000 reward for information related to these AT&T posers is being offered by the telecom carrier.

Atlanta police have increased patrols during the night and early morning, WSBRadio said, because it’s during these times that residents have witnessed the thieves in the act.
