Neptune’s Low-Cost Cloud Debuts via Channel

This week Neptune’s Cloud, Virginia Beach, Va., debuted its low-cost public cloud services targeted to small and medium businesses and available exclusively through indirect sales channels.

Startup Neptune’ Cloud provides Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Unlike other public clouds that have specific instance size, Neptune’s Cloud allows users to select the exact VCPU/RAM/HDD to allocate to that instance, eliminating wasted resources.

Neptune’s cloud is sold exclusively through VARs and MSPs. Initial partners include Ethos Info, Endurance IT Services and Timitron Corp.  Neptune offers up to 35 percent discounts to its services partners. It also offers an agent program designed to compensate consultants that dont have the desire or ability to provide managed services. Agents’ customers receive support from a Neptune’s Cloud service partner and the commissions are shared.

Service partners have access to a reseller control panel, which allows partners to manage customer accounts, administer cloud resources and bill customers. In addition, Neptune’s Cloud provides an in-dashboard toolbox similar to an app store, for licensing and distribution of custom tools developed by Neptune Partners.

Neptune’s Cloud is housed in SAS70 Type II Data Centers and its servers are configured in multiple RAID 6 sets with two spare drives for every 10 drives in case of drive failure. Data encryption occurs at both transmission and while data is at rest using a 256 bit AES encryption.

Since the company’s primary data center is in Richmond, Va., it is targeting customers in the Mid-Atlantic region. However, Neptune’s Cloud plans to add more date centers throughout the country over then next 12 months.
