Are you ready for the surprise of the year? Apples iPhone is the top-selling handset at the nations two largest wireless carriers.

Of Verizon Wireless retail stores surveyed by BTIG Research, 51 percent reported that the iPhone was their top-selling device, All Things Digital reported. Another 38 percent noted that the iPhone was tied for first with an Android device, typically the Samsung Droid Charge or the HTC ThunderBolt. Verizon Wireless began selling the iPhone 4 in February.

At AT&T stores, the iPhone also has proven to be a customer favorite. Sixty-five percent of stores surveyed name the gadget as their top-selling phone, while 31 percent said an Android device had the most sales, according to the report.

BTIG Research surveyed 250 AT&T and Verizon stores across the country, asking them to name their top-selling smartphone.
