Sprint Puts Android-Based Hero on Sale

Sprint-Nextel Corp. has officially launched the HTC Hero smartphone, based on the Android operating system. The gadget goes for $180 after rebate with a two-year contract. Sprint is also requiring a data plan.

The device offers a 3.2 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels, a 5-megapixel camera, and expandable memory up to 32GB. It also has a standard virtual QWERTY keyboard, and support for Sprint’s EV-DO Rev. A 3G network, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
