Nortel: Close to a Bid for Voice Apps Division

Nortel Networks is close to an offer for its voice-applications business, it said.

The profitable division, which has an annual run rate of $800 million, provides carriers with technology to enable voice, video and multimedia and is still winning “major contracts” in Britain, Australia and Austria.

Division head Samih Elhage told the Financial Post that a first-offer bid could come any time.

Nortel already auctioned its wireless assets, with the enterprise division next up for spin-off.
