Twitter, Facebook Skills Could Get You Hired

A year ago, most people had never even heard of Twitter. Now, knowing the ins and outs of the site could be the difference between landing a job and staying unemployed.

This is especially true if you’re in the communications field, including advertising and marketing, MarketPro president Bob Van Rossum told The Rossum says for people in these fields, knowing how to use social media like Facebook and Twitter is less a suggestion than it is a requirement.

And it’s not just communications. You’ll find more and more job postings that ask for you to be savvy in social media, or at least know how the sites work. Many companies want to connect with people in the inexpensive, personal way that sites like Facebook and Twitter provide.
