Twitters Worth $250M. Huh?

The micro-blogging social media phenomenon called Twitter is raising cash via one or more venture capital firms that places the company’s value at $250 million.

According to TechCrunch “sources,” Twitter execs have been trying to get such a valuation with hit or miss interest, by pointing to its almost-merger with Facebook, which was going to pay $500 million for it. But while the site already is venture capital-based, it has had the industry scratching its head in terms of how to monetize it, since advertising models don’t readily apply themselves to the service.

That said, ComScore says Twitter’s traffic flow increased five times, to 5.57 million, year over year as of September.
