AT&T Touts Alternatives to Cablecos

As a result of its merger with SBC Communications Inc., AT&T Inc. said yesterday it will be able to bundle services and cut phone bills for residential customers.

The company said an estimated 4 million residential subscribers with SBC local service and AT&T long-distance service are eligible to add DSL, wireless and video services at rates that will save them more money than buying services individually.

“We’re extending the benefits of bundling to millions more consumers, giving them our best available pricing for popular services and providing them with a compelling alternative to cable companies, which have just announced another round of price increases,” said Scott Helbing, chief marketing officer for AT&T Consumer Marketing.
