Citynet Deepens Tier 2/3 Network

Citynet (Booth 809) is expanding its fiber-optic network in an effort to provide the most extensive market coverage in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The carriers carrier has 18 PoPs in Ohio covering all eight of the states LATAs. Our build into the Youngstown market, providing both IXC and special central office access, has solidified our position as the carriers carrier in Ohio, says Citynet COO Mike Friloux. Citynet is also deepening its coverage by adding the central offices in Portsmouth and Lima, Ohio, to our network.

Citynets physically diverse network also covers West Virginia, touching every LATA with nine PoPs.

In 2005, the company extended its presence, building into the ILEC COs in seven West Virginia markets. Citynet also has expanded its long-haul network by adding Bloomington and Terre Haute, Ind. These new markets give Citynet service in seven of the 10 LATAs in Indiana. Citynets dense regional network also covers five of the six LATAs in Pennsylvania where it has 10 PoPs.

Citynets strategic focus is driven largely by carrier customers. We have been overwhelmed by the response our customers have had to our regional strategy, says Friloux. Our goal is to continue to extend our network while making it more concentrated in the markets where our customers need it. We want our customers to think of us first when they are faced with a challenge in our region. As experts in our territory, we can provide creative solutions that exceed our customers expectations.
